Caterwaul's Fun with a Garage Kit - Naughty Kiss

So, I've always been interested in some of the garage kits that have popped up now and then but a number of factors always stopped me from getting them.

1: They're fairly highly priced for what you get.
2: They're usually unpainted resin. This means a LOT of work is involved in getting them presentable. Filling in bubbles, removing flash, and then priming and painting them.
3: You'll need a fresh body for most of them. More expense added onto 1.

Well, I finally found a garage kit I wanted, at a price I thought was OK.
Presenting Vampire type MMS Naughty Kiss.

She started out as a set of illustrations by an artist on Pixiv.

Found a couple other pics of his via searching, but nothing I can safely post. The guy has some...interesting kinks.

The illustrations impressed a kit builder, they asked for, and received permission, to make a kit based on it.

They also have some pic galleries out, but again...sudden porn without warning with that.

So, after seeing all that, I decided I really REALLY wanted her.
A quick note to my proxy (along with a bit of panic as I realised I had 35 hours to get a bid in), and the bid was placed. And bam, success!

Now, I just have to wait for her to show on my doorstep so I know exactly what the next step is.

I think her face just a little too big for small body. If change with figma face, she will be very cute.

Yes, actually. I'm interested in fooling around with different faces/hair, so I was thinking about recasting those so I dont damage the originals.

It's unassembled and unfinished in general. I havent found a pic with the bits that come with it, but I expect I'll have a great deal of painting.

The big head is part of what makes her cute. I think the hair is making her head look bigger then it is, but we'll see.

Got new from my proxy that he's got her, now I just need it shipped.

I understand that. When figures have more face,they will have more expression and made them cuter.

Did you ever paint figure or Gunpla before?

I paint miniatures, so it's not too different. Which reminds me that I need to check my paints too, but that's a bit off.

News from my proxy is that she shipped, so hopefully I'll have pics of parts/sprues soon.

Apparently my camera decided, since the last time I used it, to start having lens errors, and the usual tricks dont fix it. So you lot will have to make do with the camera phone until I can get a new one. If she ever arrives anyways. *impatience*

So after about a week of waiting, I finally picked her up at the post office last night. Too late to take any pictures, so I didnt look over her in any real detail. I will say that I'm a bit intimidated. A lot of parts, and a lot of cleanup are in order.

This is how the kit is delivered. Nothing all that fancy, just a plastic bag with all the parts inside. Lirbiette has decided to help me display everything to give you a sense of scale. Naughty Kiss uses a Small body type anyways, so she's going to be test fitting pieces until I can get a Naked for final painting.

Besides the kit contents, Naughty Kiss also comes with a color sheet as a painting and assembly guide, as well as 4 black and white sheets of assembly instructions. As a note to future kit makers, please dont circle black parts with black ink if you're going to print in black and white.

Besides her armor and cane, Naughty Kiss comes with 3 sets of faces, a replacement lower body and upper thighs, and 2 chest pieces.

All the kit parts spread out so I can check to see if I'm missing anything. Everything looks in order, but I'm not sure. You can see why kits of this nature are a lot of work. Tons of flash and everything was on sprues. A lot of pieces snapped off their sprues during delivery but I didnt see anything that looked broken. I didnt go over it in detail, but I can already see places that will need some extra TLC during cleanup.

The next step is to get everything off the sprues and clean off the flash. You can already see she was cast in 4 different colors. Why they molded what was principally a black color scheme in white resin I really dont know. I'll show off some of the more problematic areas as I do so. This is gonna be a bit slow as I'm going to need to go back and forth between various online pics and the kit to see what's supposed to get snipped off.
