Hey Otispq. Good to hear from you again. :)

Thanks. That ingenious Hot Toys thinks of everything. I had no idea they made blank bodies for the alternate heads. I just figured since Tony takes off the helmet occasionally that it made sense. Now he's got two suits, three pairs of sneakers and a girlfriend!

Oh yea, the new Sherlock movie with RDJ. While I am a fan of Sherlock and RDJ, I don't think the two should ever come together...... RDJ doesn't really look like Sherlock at all, in my opinion.

Best part of the whole trailer, although I have alternative reasons for thinking so and nothing to do with Sherlock Holmes. ;)

To say I am excited is an understatement. I've been following the production since Mister Downey was cast back in October 2008. I read all 56 short stories and 4 novels (excellent literature btw). I bought the same style hat from the same London hat shop that Mister Downey purchased his that he wears in the movie. I'm putting the finishing touches on a replica costume for Halloween. And I have a new tattoo of the previous mentioned hat to commemorate over a year of Sherlock Holmes craziness. :D

Physically, no. Mister Downey does not fit author Conan Doyle's description of Sherlock. So I would agree with you that he doesn't look the part. However he's talented enough to make up for that in personality and charm. What little I have seen in the trailers, Mister Downey's version is a bit truer to the character as he's portrayed in the original stories in my opinion. Holmes was a man of action as well as great intellect. I know many purists disagree with me though. :)

DA's Holmes-Inspired Costume

Post by Deviant Anomaly » Sat Oct 31, 2009 1:00 pm

So it started back in May with the purchase of a James Lock & Co. trilby, same hat that Mister Downey wears in the film. From there it was a matter of hunting down accessories on Ebay and making a few pieces (thanks goes to my mother for her sewing assistance). I think the end results turned out pretty well.

The original as seen in the film...

and DA's version (many thanks to docksidepress for the lovely pics)...

Sherlock Holmes, Cat! Pay attention to the thread. D:

Specifically, the version played by Robert Downey Jr. in a newer movie which I don't think is out yet.

... That's the wrong type of hat. Why aren't they using a deerstalker hat?

cause that's the type of hat they are using in the movie, you know how Hollywood changes everything up...

Anyways, really, really cool costume. Good job. :headbang:

The funny thing being, if you actually read the stories, he dresses nothing like the classic movie portrayal of the character. :) They tend to leave out the opium dens, too.
