The material for the hat's just a scrap of fabric from a cut-up old t-shirt.

(And I meant non-book objects. I've lots of toys and such sitting on it, too. XD)

cool hat! I like personal touches to shinkis... Maybe this sounds weird, but it kinda shows how loved they are. Y'know, like how stuffed animals get all worn and matted when they spend a lot of time being cuddled, rather than on shelves?
