Re: Recreating this kitbash/mod?
This is a Lavina MkII (no difference fro mthe Strarf aside the colors, there are also Full Armor Package kits, with extra parts of both), and they do come with the arms to attach the claws, but here the kitbasher made it so the arms look less like mecha by detaching the bulky parts and adding slimmer, round ones.
Here you can see how the arms look by default: http://myfigurecollection.net/picture/5 ... em%3A86248

Ah I see, so he used the regular hands/claws that came with the kit for her hands and then used different hands for the larger arms attached to her back.
Where did the larger hands come from, then? (http://i.imgur.com/WZSyBBR.png)

I completely overlooked that. Those are 1/100 Gundam hands, though I'm not sure from which kit. I think Master Gundam hands would work better here.

Hm, I wonder if the joints of the gundam would just clip in with the arms? I guess I'll just order both a pair of 1/100 and 1/144 hands and see what works...

They mostly use ball joints, older 1/144 will have pegs.
1/144 will be too thin, 1/100 will need a bit of sanding.
I've taken a couple of pics to help you out, one showing the Gunpla hands with a Shinki peg inbetween and one that with the right parts (which I can't bother to dig out now, since my room is a mess) would look just like that kitbash you want to make.

Ah awesome, thanks for the pics. So do you think I would have enough parts from the Lavina kit alone? If I sanded the ball joint of the hands down I imagine that would create a decent connection with the Shinki joint?
(lovely Strarf btw : ) )
Edit: Oh also, would you recommend a specific type of screwdriver for Shinki bashing?

Yeah, you'd be god with just the parts from the kit itself, as I said, mst Shinki comes with the extra connectors runner specially made for kitbashing.
Normally you shouldn't need a screwdriver, unless you want to split a part in half, but it'd be useless like that. If you just want to replace the screws, any old screwdriver will do, though I'd never use ones with rusty tips on figures

Ok, sounds good.
So I've been poking around on Amazon JP for hands that have the black and white color scheme... Do you think these would work well? (Or, do you remember the model # of the ones in your picture? they seem pretty similar to the kitbasher's)

The hands in my pic are from RG 1/144 RX-78-2 and MG 1/100 Hi-Nu.
There are Builder Parts kits, with just hands, that are cheaper than those B-Club stuff.

You can also find any Gunpla which hands you like and order the exact parts you need from here: http://parts.genteikits.com/
