Re: First, lets sit down
Last update is... a month ago. Well, not much happened either.
I planned having a photo shoot session with someone in the local community, but he came after I went away on 6, while I've said I'll wait until 4.

Found a place to get some drink…

Oh right, I bought a new flash. Still hasn't get a grip on it and much more convenient with using the 30cm reflector. But it does came in handy when there's not much light to use.

And then she came down face first ^^;

Then the rain falls, everyone scrambled from the park to the nearest roof (likely the mall right across the street). Weird troublesome weather lately.

The rest are usually not Shinki related.
We had this during May Day. Of course, can't take picture of the girls during the event. But I did meet with a Japanese tourist who got caught in the middle after finding out that the museum is closed for the day. Nice chance to train my rusty Japanese and walk a lot.

And I also got my first PVC figure ^-^

Beautiful. Now bring out devil Origami please.

Re: First, lets sit down
Thanks. It's getting harder to think of idea though.
I really want to travel more =_=
Lets see, the recent few weeks.
Two weeks ago is the local annual Japanese festival. There are many in Jakarta, but most are campus club's festival. Bigger events are "otaku event" rather than Japanese festival, which is unfortunate. Got tired of those already, there's just too many, big and small. But well, otaku event means sponsorship money and renting out stands to hobby shops while having the usual cosplayers in win-win relationship as show to attract visitors (and their friends).
Japan Foundation did held some, but they're usually small scale workshops held on weekdays.
That left this event on May, held by association of Japanese restaurant and bar in the "little Tokyo" section. There's another one on September, but felt more "international" than "japanese".

She had fun

and shaved ice

But the nice less crowded space is in a new cafe in the neighborhood.

As expected from cafe targeting the younger demographic, the place is well decorated. Although I'm not so fond of it because of the "young creative intelectual cool kids hanging place" image from this cafe that has a theatrical movie of its own.
It's unfortunate that although I got chance to go out with a local Shinki master last week, I couldn't get any good enough pic.
The Voigtlander 21/1.8 lens is tempting though.
Been like, what, two years since I last tried night shots.

Still trying to learn how to use that flash gun, so it's a nice chance.

BTW, someone who are taking pictures too around that place suddenly greet and asked if he can also take picture together.
But well, for now, using continuous lighting like reflector board still feels more comfortable for me.

Oops (strong wind)

Well, that's this week's urban travel with Shinki story

Strong winds, the bane of any toy photographer. LOL
Lovely shots. I remember back in my old neighborhood in SoCal, there were a couple of cafe's that specialized in making it feel like you were in someone's living room, with couches, coffee tables, and shelves with old board games on them. The ones here in rural CO are your basic Starbucks types, though.
