...yeah, that's a pretty apt description. Like I mentioned in the Introduction thread, I go by "Heckfire" and, in addition to collecting toys, I'm also a (badly blocked) writer and cartoonist. I got a rather nice tax refund this year and, at my friend Roequ's behest, sank some of it into finally buying a few Busou Shinkis for my collection.

Amusingly enough, the first one arrived on Valentine's Day:


For those not familiar, she is a Ninja Model Mizuki Type 2. While not the flashiest or most accessory-heavy of the line, I'm still rather taken with her...particularly her battle mode:


Of course, I also discovered something particularly amusing about her: her hands are 100% compatible with the ridiculously oversized weapons that came with the 90s 3.75" G.I.Joe figures, right down to her index finger curling around this particular gun's trigger:


Even her fellow Valentine's Day arrival, Minerva, seems impressed:


In addition to the oni horns I tend to prefer on her, she also has a pair of "fox ears"...


...but she doesn't seem that taken with them.


On the whole, she was a sudden impulse buy that turned out surprisingly satisfying, and she seemed to be fairly content with the situation as well.


Of course, as the meme goes, one does not just purchase ONE Shinki figure...

I should note two things here: one, Mizuki was a pre-owned model and, as they say, buyer beware...her left hip joint was warped and prone to falling off, but it was a quick and painless repair that has held up wonderfully.

Second: I have a tendency to turn photos of my toys into comics, especially when goaded by my son, and when the next arrivals showed up, he convinced me to give the girls some voices, so to speak:










I know the character Nagi is based on is, frankly, the exact opposite of the genki chatterbox I made my Shinki out to be, but it just matched her accessories and faces. I might need to tone back on Razz's accent, however...and her hand is JUST on her stomach. I just noticed it might look bad, but I swear it's not.

...and yes, not only do Nagi's and Razz's skin tones match perfectly, Nagi ALSO comes with an in-scale PS3 and controller! If anyone wants any more detailed info on any of them, let me know, these pics are just me goofing around.

My son even got in on the act and set up a couple shots of his own, with his SH Figuarts Samus Aran acting as stage security:

My son tends to prefer Razz's setup in Flight mode rather than Drumset mode.

I used it as a practice shot to test various settings on my camera and this one was, arguably, the best of them.

So, yeah. More practice lies in my future.

Always good to see new members here. I've been around a few months, and lurked much longer, but have yet to make a show and tell thread, since I haven't been able to get some of the basic pictures of my shinki that I want for the initial post, due to repairs and mods to some of her accessories took way longer than I though they would.

Thanks. I admit I probably went a little overboard for my initial purchases (which will have to sustain me for a while), but I have not regretted ANY of them yet, even the last minute impulse buys.

Anyway, I had another arrival over the weekend, this one even MORE unexpected than Razz and Nagi because the shipping date I was given was for some time in April (!). I had a particular personality in mind when I bought her, but, once I saw she was taller than my initial three (being a Type 1 to their Type 3s), something completely different popped into my head...










...FYI, the gag with "Mister Snuffles" is based on real life. Every time I see my superintendant, his pet pitbull keeps trying to break off his leash and tear my throat out while he smiles and apologetically says "He's a rescue dog, he's just nervous around strangers..."
