Hello everyone. I've been reading the board for several months, but this is my first post. I got interested in Shinkis after reading "Shinki Saturdays" on figure.fm. I really liked the photos people made, and was taken with how cute Shinkis were. After reading more about them, I was impressed with their engineering, robustness, and versatility, and I also really liked the character designs. I decided to get my own Shinki, and am now the owner of a Werkstra I call "Michelle."
Having a Shinki around has been a lot of fun. I always smile when I see Michelle perched on my nightstand or lounging on the couch arm, and I had a lot of fun on the first photo shoot I did with her. I do a lot of hiking, so this weekend when I went out I slipped Michelle into my pack and took my camera. I had a great time finding places for her to pose and setting up the shots. (I'm looking forward to learning how to work a camera in something other than "point and hope" mode...).
Now that I'm registered I'm looking forward to being able to be active on the board. Later!

Welkstra high five! *KA-WHAP*
And welcome to the forums. Please take lots of pictures...although I would advise being EXTREMELY careful if you wish to take her out of the house.

Re: Hello from Raleigh, North Carolina, USA
Ha, thanks! I'm already enjoying taking photos. So far I haven't run into any problems with outdoor photo shoots, aside from some weird looks from people, and I don't really care about that. Plus, I really don't know yet how to manage lighting for indoor photography...rubixbox wrote:Welkstra high five! *KA-WHAP*

Welcome! Welcome! And another from SS? Perfect!
Werkstra? *Googles*....Ah! Her. She's one of those few that I have yet to get familiar with. Careful with the Shinkis as they can break or wear out quite easily. Renge suffered a nasty hair problem, Fubuki's tail got banged up, and Kohiru's legging pattern rubbed off a bit. Such is life when photographing outdoors.......
Weird stares from people? They don't know what they're missing, let them stare .

Thank you. I look forward to SS every week, and I'm happy to be contributing to it now.ArcticKitsune wrote:Welcome! Welcome! And another from SS? Perfect!
I see what you mean, they seem well made but delicate. Michelle, my Werkstra, travels in a padded accessory pouch attached to my camera case, and I'm careful during the shoots. So far no problems...ArcticKitsune wrote:Careful with the Shinkis as they can break or wear out quite easily.
