I'd White Knight here, but I don't really have any arguments to defend Hasbro, since I don't know anyone who works at Hasbro that I could just ask "Hey, why are the Transformers figures smaller this year?". Really, the only thing we can do is just suffer through it and/or hope that Hasbro/a third party company will make better figures in the future...or just do what many fans do and just complain about the evil money-addicted Satanthulhus that run Hasblow.

But I didn't post here to horn in on conversations I have no business in. I got a few transformers recently, and I need to get around to posting pictures again:
Image

First up is DREAD agent Casur:
Image
Image
I bought some more DREAD parts from shapeways-Casur's swords and backpack- and now Casur is more or less complete...sort of.
Image
Image
Image
The backpack needs some more paint in the boosters, as the paint in there has rubbed off due to the swords (which can be holstered in the booster holes). I have to say, painting it was a pain, and I think I'll just order the backpacks for the other two DREADs in Black Strong Flexible. Actually, I'll just order all the Dread parts in Black Strong Flexible.

Also, that silver thing is supposed to be the chalk bat symbol from the Dark Knight Rises.

Animated Blackarachnia: Not really sure what to say about her. She's a nice mix between the Beast Wars and Beast Machines designs. The spider mode is nice, and actually has eight legs, though the front four aren't very posable.
As an added note, while fiddling with her, I discovered this sort of in-between mode for her:
Image

Next is Ripclaw:
Image
She's a very neat transformer, with an interesting robot mode and a few rubbery bits (her head and the core of her tail). My only complaint is that she can't bend her arms inward.

Also, she makes a better scorpion than most scorpion transformers. Why?
For starters, she can actually strike without hitting her own head.
Image

Twinstrike:
Image
And that's all I have to say about that.

Grimlock:
Image
Grimlock is awesome, but he really needs bigger weapons. His sword and shield are tiny...though I can forgive the shield being a bit small due to it being Grimlock.

Image
The light up gimmick, I'm apathetic about. Neat, but there's no way to make the gimmick lock so that it's always on, or at the very least, the jaw stays open.

And last but not least, RTS Optimus.
Image
...With the Maketoys Battle Tanker add-on.

Seriously, this is solid metal badass right here. Primes with super modes are always awesome, and this one is no exception.

Image
He can also remove the missile backpack and just fight with swords, either his own sword or the one that came with the add-on. The big sword can even light up...or it would, had I not broken the light's wires. :schmetterling:

Image
However, the set does have its problems; namely, storage. The missile pack can't turn into a base mode, and there's no place to store the short sword that came with RTS Optimus originally. Granted, both problems could probably be solved through some clever mis-transformation.

So, that's all the pictures I have for now.

@Xehn: As Holister says, retool/repaint/remold is not an excuse ^^;; Which reminds me, all of this "smaller Transformers figures" starts from Dark of The Moon (Revenge of the Fallen's figure is still quite big, mind you ^^)

@Rubix: Woohoo~ Awesome collection :D Keep it up!

Hasbro gives us smaller and smaller toys, most just re-using familiar molds..(ie, less engineering costs) and then have no excuse as to why they paint stuff completely wrong? There is more here than meets the eye, no pun intended. I love Transformers, but I won't give them a free pass on the drop in quality vs price hike.
I think you've missed my point slightly, but I could be misunderstanding you. There are... what, nine moving parts on the turtles (I have two of them, so I know they're pretty decent)? and only the turtles. basically everything else from the line isn't even worth bothering with.
Comparing that to even a basic transformer...

I'm not saying hasbro/takara isn't to blame at all, mind. Simply that the engineering that goes into designing a transformer is more elaborate than a turtle, and thus costs more to develop.

I understand where you are coming from, and understand to a degree. I'm not comparing Transformer toys TO TMNT toys... I'm comparing their own lineage and offerings and product quality for price.

Some toys IMPROVE quality, size, articulation and design, for not much more expense... (TMNT toys are about what they would have been with current inflation etc..) And some give lackluster representations and blame "other variables"...(IE, Hasbro on SOME lines of toys..)

Would it have cost Hasbro more money to paint a blue painted part red instead? Maybe.. but if the blue is the wrong color intirely, then why not save MORE money and not paint that specific piece at all?? Expense cannot warrant blatant mistakes like that. If the Turtles had been given the wrong color bandannas or whatever the eye masks are... would people complain? You tell me. If the company came out and said, we're sorry, stuff is too expensive as an excuse, people would just laugh.. But somehow, Hasbro gets a pass from some people. I get it, designing a transforming toy is hard. But that is what they do. This is not a new idea. Plastic cost did not cause Smokescreen's design to have the flaws it does in paint apps etc.

That being all said and done. I do really like most of the Prime line and continue to buy the toys. I really liked the First Edition line and didn't really see WHY they had to redesign a bunch of stuff to be crappier for consumers??? I have both Primes, (not Beast Christmas Prime though) and I see NO reason why they would have done an entire re-design of almost every character... same with Beast Hunters..

Sorry again, I won't post my opinions anymore on the figures quality, I don't want anyone to think Im trying to argue or debate.. I just get confused when a toy maker cant make a likeness of a character in a show based of a toy companies toy...

The Toys Fair in Indonesia on March 9th & 10th. Transformers Indonesia joins the party (& sell some stuffs too). You can take a look at the massive Vehicons (FE, RiD, Jets) army, & it makes lots of people buy TFPrime stuffs from our selling spot XDDDDD

Hey, nothing wrong with opinions. Without them we wouldn't have anything to discuss.

Found Ripclaw today, she joins Laserback on my shelf...

I like her a lot. I kinda like all these predacons actually, really sends me back to Beast Wars in a great way.

...except for that one white and blue one we saw. that one looks like crap. Debating picking up one of each predacon mold/design (aside from that one at least). Wishing we'd get bigger toys of the parts of that legions combiner.

Agreed.

It seems The Predacons have gotten a warm welcome from a lot of people. I wish they had less of a neon meets pastel color scheme, but I can't argue the molds are interesting. I also like how large Laserback was for a delux. He has some heft to him. (weight, not so much height..)
Ripclaw's tail seems pretty cool with the claw on it as well..

What's wrong with SkyStalker? ^^; Aside from that, i agree that these Predacons are a memory bringer to Beast Wars era. However, i kinda disliked how every dragon type of these Predacons ended up in the same fashion of transformation: Hind leg becomes leg, front leg becomes arm. Fold the head to the chest / back,& tails becomes weapon.

assuming that isn't mistransformed... what isn't? he doesn't transform, he just stands up and opens his mouth, and that's not even exaggeration.
