The mental image just was so absurd it seemed funny to me. I've also kind of got it in for Home Depot since every time I go there I get mugged in the aisle by somebody trying to sell me a kitchen remodeling package, so I work the store into the strip whenever I have the chance, usually in some kind of silly way.

Most of the things I show the Narrator doing in the strip are based on things I do myself. It's a way of poking fun at some of my own idiosyncracies, like writing intentionally bizarre letters to the editor.
